How to Play

Play Zero Squares online for free. Zero Squares is a 30-stage path making maze game where your goal is to place all of the colored squares in the correct positions within the maze. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Press “A” or “Enter” or touch the screen to bring up the level select screen.
- Levels are unlocked sequentially.
- Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
- Game Controls
  - Desktop
    - Move boxes left with either the A key or the left arrow key.
    - Move boxes right with either the D key or the down arrow key.
    - Move boxes up with either the W key or the up arrow key.
    - Move boxes down with either the S key or the down arrow key.
    - Press the R key to restart the level.
    - Touchscreen devices
      - Tap the screen with a finger and swipe in the direction you want the boxes to move.
      - Controls & indicators
        
        The lower left corner of the screen shows the current level number.
        
        The upper right corner of the screen has a level select button.
        
        The lower right corner of the screen has a level restart button.
        
        Game Play
        
        Goal
        
        The goal of this game is to get each solid colored box into the square which is outlined with the same color.
        
        You can move an unlimited number of times, however you have to complete the boxes in a certain order as on some levels the only way to reach the destination square is to put other boxes against a wall and use them as an extension of a neighboring wall.
        
        Moving
        
        If they are able to move all boxes move at the same time.
        
        Boxes can pass over other box placements, however boxes can not go through each other.
        
        Boxes move until they run into something.
        
        Once boxes have reached their destination square they are removed from the board.
        
        When you get to later levels some of them have gaps in the wall where the boxes can fall out. If you lose any boxes it is game over.
        
        White boxes
        
        The last few levels have a white outlined box on them.
        
        The white box adopts the color of the first colored box which is placed inside it.
        
        You must place the correct box color inside the white box. If the wrong color hits it first you won’t have a destination square for your final box.
        
        Some white boxes may also be near a gap in the wall. If they are, make sure you approach them from a perpendicular direction.
        
        After outlining the white box it becomes a normal colored box. You then have to move the square that was inside it away from it & then back into it again.
        
        Levels
        
        This game has 30 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
        
        You can go back and replay any level at any time.
        
        If you lose on a level you can continue an unlimited number of times.
        
        Strategy
        
        Do not place the easiest boxes first, because you may need them to help guide the harder boxes into position.
        
        If you get stuck on a level work backward from the squares you are struggling to place. Find out where it must be before it gets to the final position and then consider what moves you need to make to get it there.
        
        Target Audience
        
        The game is suited for players who like mazes or logic puzzle games.
        
        The game has no adult themed content.
